CCC-TT's 2JZ-GE to 1JZ-GTE swap
Im fairly new to club lexus but have been around in the local car scene here in tampa for years. Ive probably met several of the members of this forum who are in this area either at supra meets or other local events. Anyhow i met Bobby a while back at a meet and he quickly struck up conversation about wanting to swap his SC sometime this past summer. Of course being that hes 17 most who heard him talking about it probably thought he was just another ricer punk trying to get a rise out of people. His 1995 SC300 is one of the clean 5 speeds still rolling around this area, granted its not perfect but its better than most ive seen. Without any reservations I volunteered to help him at no charge as i believe that there are far fewer kids in this day and age that care enough about cars to even want to take on such a huge task on their own. His parents were skeptical about the swap until the pallet arrived from japan with a 46k km auto 1jz-gte (+ extras we werent expecting). I have to say this swap was challenging compared to the few others ive done on other types of vehicles mainly because of the RHD to LHD configuration differences otherwise everything else is straight forward or self explanatory. Without further babble i go on with the pictures:

my friend was in the process of moving his shop so the day we started was a day late for the the lift so we were stuck with floor jacks, jackstands and an engine hoist. Talk bout a work out haha
i'll be on later as i gotta go get bobby so we can keep buttoning up the loose ends. New throttle cable gets here tomorrow so in the meantime we'll upgrade the front brakes and keep assembling the few pieces left to go back on the car. We are taking our time, theres no rush here
atleast thats how i feels....hes 17 though so im sure he wants it done like yesterday

the day we started i got a call from a friend who is here on business from japan asking what i was up to. So he and his business partner showed up and got down with us getting the GE setup out as well as prepping the GTE. Up until this past weekend Bobby had never seen a real Skyline....then his car was in the shop with 2 running/legit/federalized R32 Skylines....GTS and GT-R respectively. We are almost ready to start her up but like we said earlier...a few loose ends to take care of.
A very special Thank you to my japanese friends Taka and Nori

well, there are a few little issues we still have to address they are that the water pump seal is bad(no biggie) andthere is a crimp in one of the coolant hoses behind the motor (also no biggie, except for the fact that it is almost impossible to get to and have any leverage to remove the clamp) and the issue of the auto harness and neutral start(whenever we connect the batter terminals, the car turns over and starts. i believe this is a simple fix, from what i have read, that we simply have to run a ground wire from the ignition to the starter. Input???)
thanks for all the positive feedback guys, We'll be sure to do a better write-up once it is running correctly. but damn that 1j sounds good
