Default E-fans in SC400's?

Anyone done this? Or suggest parts i should consider buying for a swap? I dont know if this has been posted before, and im sorry to repost if it has. How reliable is the stock fluid fan assembly?

Cheers,
Luke

Did you mean electric fans? I and other SC400 owners have done it successfully. The link is here: http://lextreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4348. You might need to register as a member to view the tread.

I was at the Toyota dealership talking to a service tech about this the other day. He claims that by doing an electric fan swap that one may gain 10-15 horsepower.

I have been toying with the idea for a while now, but am closer to just buying an OEM fan from Carson. In the future if I decide to upgrade my car with any high performance modifications I may go with an e-fan.

If you have a daily driver thats naturally aspirated, I'd just stick with an OEM fan, as you won't gain much by doing so.

If someone can convince me otherwise, I'm game for it, as I'm up for anything to fix my squeak coming from the pulleys.

I dont know, the hydraulic fan is of great design and has very little drag. How many amps do th eelectrics pull? It almost cancels a gain......

Yes I wiuld agree that HP gain from electric fans is a myth. Also the hydraulic fan coos extremely well. I am doing it to clean up my engine bay and mostly to look cool. There could be some weight savings but not enough to justify it.
Mine will look cool!
