Default 99 SC300 With A W58 5 Speed Trans.

I just got my hands on a 99 SC300. I am going to install a W58 5 Speed Trans in a week or so. I had the whole conversion with rear end and all the parts for the swap but in a little mix up I no longer have the rear end. From what I know the 99SC300 comes with a 4:27:1 Final Drive Ratio
The 5 Speed comes with a 4:08:1 Final Drive Ratio. Would there be much lost in performance?
Thanks For All The Help

I am running the 4.27 gears on my SC400 (3.92 from factory). The shorter gearing took ~0.4s off my 0-60 and 45-65 times. The car revs higher on the freeway, top speed is diminished, and the speedo reads faster that I am actually going; but, the performance gain is tangible.

Short of having a big turbo that is only offering boost for 2-3k rpm (needing a wider power band), the shorter gearing will increase performance by getting to and rolling through your strong revs more quickly.

A 4.27 W58 should be pretty snappy, but not so snappy to lose street manners. The MKIII Supra n/a W58 came with 4.30 gearing from the factory.

I have been waiting three days for that answer. Thanks (BLIZZY). The MKIII Supra n/a W58 came with 4.30 gearing from the factory. Would this bolt to the SC or could I just swap the internals into the SC rear end to get the 4:30 gearing?
I might be wrong but I did a 5 Speed conversion on the 95 SC300 that I just sold and I was under the impression that to do a swap on the 2jzge VVti the process would be the same. I might be wrong so if I am please CHIME in. I am going to start the swap this weekend if the weather is good.

TURBO819,
Did you ever finish the swap in your 99SC300 VVTi? If so, did you have any issues with the check engine light or any other electronic glitches? Your input would be much appreciated. Which rear end did you go with after all?
Thanks,
Luis
