My SC400's exhaust
Hey guys, I'm soon gonna be looking into getting the exhaust done on the SC. The only thing I cant decide on is which route I wanna go.
If I go dual, would the best thing be 3" or 4" all the way back.
If I go single, would 4" be the best route?
I'm a welder, I would be making my own, wont be the first time. I'm really asking these questions cuz I'm wanting to know what you guys have found to be the best in performance and tone.
The car will keep close to it original height, so clearance wont be an issue.
Thanks guys

The SC is a 250hp 4L, not a 750hp 8L Cummins turbo diesel.
Dual 2", if mandrel bent, would supply sufficient flow to note choke the engine up top. 2.25" duals would bias the power a bit more to the top end, into the 1UZ's sweet spot.
A 2.5" single can flow 250hp all day. Although, given the stock rear bumper, the dual exhaust is more well suited to the car, especially the V8.
Moral of the story: your ideas are WAY too big. A 4" single can flow 700hp. On the stock 1UZ, the exhaust particles would get lost on their way out of the exhaust and DESTROY your performance across the entire power band. You would pull like a bat out of hell from 12-14k rpm...if only that were possible. A 3"/4" dual would be the same, only even slightly worse.
Big exhausts are loud and proud, but something that is more than an inch oversized will absolutely kill performance while you are waking the dead.
If mandrel bent is available, 2" is sufficient for a dual exhaust. 2.25" would offer a bit more top end bias and is the preferred suggestion among the masses (although I would favor the 2" dual or 2.5" single if mandrel bent).
If you detele the resonators and go only through mufflers, the car will be loud: don't worry.

i'm running an Apex'i GT-Spec currently on my sc400 which is a single iirc 3.8''...before I get flammed, I bought a 2J and will be dropping that in soon lol..
I've noticed that I lost some torque down low, but it seems to pick up a little more top-end. Car sounds like a Mustang tho lol.

go 2.5" like me! :] but then i got crush bending.. and that made the piping smaller here n there.. which compensated my back pressure! yay haha
