V160 fluid is the only recommended transmission fluid. It's a bit pricy, but I wouldn't chance goofing up a $2000+ tranny with a less expensive fluid.

Use Toyota V160 fluid. Some have had good luck with Royal Purple.

I called three dealers and they dont get it. One says they dont know what it is equililent to, on said its 80/90 gear oil, one said they dont know. Where do i get royal purple? How much does it hold?

you can get royal purple at a napa auto parts store.

Had Royal Purple once, and it turned to sludge in my 6-speed tranny.

The closest thing to V160 is Dextron ATF. However, I am NOT saying you should use it.

It doesn't make sense to spend all this time and $$$ just to save a few pennies on tranny fluid. Scott, get V160 from Curt Aigner on SF and be done with it.

If you can't source any I have two bottles of it which I believe is enough for the V160, which I can get to you. Maybe we could work out a deal my tranny fluid for your seats
