With the check engine light on I'm getting 25mpg highway.... I just make sure all my tires are aired up and everything is in good running order. Also if yu have a wideband w/ a new sensor U can just run the narrow band signal wire off of that to the ecm's NB sensor wire and you don't have to go buy new sensors....
Just a thought....

The SC's have a 20.6gallon tank completely dry. The gas light I think comes on at around 18gallons. In the city I'm getting about 16mpg... highway I get around 20. I baby the throttle too. I can't complain though, the car was handed down to me, at least I have a car to drive around in.

I felt like reviving this thread to refute some of the VVTi claims of better gas mileage... I have a '98 SC4, and I'm getting some crappy city mileage (of course, living in hilly Austin doesn't help). After I first purchased the car, one of my O2 sensors went out and I was getting around 15mpg city, but 20-22 highway. I replaced said O2 but am only getting 17mpg city (actually, just under 17) with the same highway.
This is starting to irritate me. Hell, my friend's V8 camaro gets well over 20 mpg in the city! I know I know, luxury V8. But still!![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Does anyone know where I can find information on testing my current O2 sensors? I recently bought an RMS tester from Sears (voltage, resistance, etc.) so if I could test these before simply replacing them... :P
I think I will also try to find a K&N filter or something. Anything that helps!

My check engine light came on for the O2 sensor before the CAT on the driver side. I changed it a month or so ago and haven't seen any improvements in MPGs, etc., and my CE light hasn't come on again. If they were cheaper I would just replace the other 3 as a test, but everyone knows how expensive they are...
