well, there is no O2 sensor behind the second cat so i'm almost positive it won't effect the ECU. If worse comes to worse i could always just have that pipe made with some generic cat or something. I'm gonna try and talk to a mechanic/exhaust place this week and find out. I'll let you guys know what i find.

well i talked to a guy, and i told him i wanted the pipe made without that cat, and he said he CAN NOT do it. it's against the federal law to do it. so... i guess that stupid pipe is just gonna have to be patched again.

in IL its a 10,000 fine to remove cats on a vehicle. i went to the next-door shop and asked to do it on my car and my buddy's Camaro and he wouldn't do it. I have a really nice Mexican-owned muffler shop by me...they will do anything as long as you pay for it. and they are dirt cheap. they did a full down-pipe back exhaust on my buddy's mk3 supra for like 175 bucks.

IL is cheap now and if your car is OBD1 you down have do to do any type of emission tests anymore. so anything 95 and older is game. this weekend im doing exhausts on a 240.....straight, pipe no cat.

the only cat i ever want under me is a nice p*ssy i pick up at the bar.

Remove the cat yourself and THEN go to the muffler shop. They may be more willing to help you if they're not the ones actually removing it.

Guys just buy a test pipe...you probably can get it from Summit. I imagen these are made for our cars. Yes it's against the law but who the crap would know? As for passing emissions, the two upfront would probably be enuff. You can also buy a used cat and hollow it out. I had a 3000gt and hollowed out two of the cats and ran test pipe on the third. Worked great.

yea, that's just it! no one would know if it's missing a cat, it's just i can't build a pipe without one by myself, and no one is willing to make one around here because they're all afraid they're gonna get screwed.

Go to any speed shop...not a chain. There must be millions in NY. I know there ar e millions in Miami. Test pipes are leagal...they are for the track only. You can say to any shop: It's for track use only.

Hmm, what year is your SC again? I know that my 92 doesn't have the third cat, it's just a resonator which looks somewhat like a cat.

Default The 2nd cat is the real one that changes the exhaust air chemistry.

From what my exhaust guy said on engines that have more than one exhaust the first one in line is a pre-cat that actually heats up the exhaust temperature hotter to around 900degrees so its at the right temperature to mix with the platinums and titanium metals in the 2nd cat. Its then that it can change the chemistry of the exhaust air and come out cleaner.
