Default Gas Pedal Sticking

I did some searching around and i couldn't really find anything. I just got the car not too long ago and i'm trying to get it all fixed up and ready for inspection/registration. I don't know if anyone else has had the same problem but the gas petal gets stuck after driving a for a little bit and then i let go of it to coast. it never really does it when i first start it. only after really getting it warmed up. it's really irritating especially if you're going up a hill... you let go of the break go to hit the gas and it won't move! i really have to push hard on it to get it unstuck.

I'm not sure I understand you exactly... When your gas pedal gets "stuck" is it giving any throttle?

Check and see if you have carbon buildup in your TB.

nope. say i'm driving down the road... and ya know i'm holding the gas steady for a while. then there's a stop ahead so i completely let go of the gas. come to the stop. ready to start up again, put my foot on the pedal and it won't budge. i basically have to kick it to get it to move and it just clicks and then works fine for awhile until another similar situation.

-also i'm pretty sure it's in the petal/cable because the petal is what physically doesn't depress

Do you know where your TB (Throttle Body) is?

If not, take off your intake piping and where the intake piping meets your manifold should be your throttle body. It has a metal plate in it which is called the "Butterfly" This plate opens and closes depending on how much throttle you are using. Over time, there is a buildup of carbon. This butterfly gets stuck because there is a film of carbon on the inside of your throttle body.

Get some carb cleaner or something to clean up this carbon. Report back and let us know if that fixes it.

FYI - It is a peDal, not peTal. :-)

aha! good idea. i never even thought about that. i figure it was something behind the peDal (btw i feel like an idiot for spelling that wrong) in the cabin. I'll definitely check that out tonight and let you know.

I believe you can lube up your throttle cable also. that might help a lil, or your throttle cable could be bent real bad

i had a near death experience with a TB problem! definetly check that, you might also want to check the insulation underneath the hood and make sure the throttle cable isn't getting caught on the insulation as you depress the pedel..gluck

have you inspected the actual pedal assembly by your foot, something could be getting caught right there, like your other foot.. j/k
seriously though check it out be4 u drive it.
at least its not getting stuck while you are on the throttle. that is real bad.
