Default bad torqure converter on a 92 SC400?

I did search and found nothing..

My car has been making a funny noise latly and im thinking it is the torqure converter. The noise is comming from the area in front of the shifter in my car. It only does it when i let off the gas and get back on it at speed and the car is in gear. It sounds like a "thud" like the torqure converter is engaging and disengaging. The sound is every noticable and it is starting to worry me . So my question is, is this a sign that the torqure converter is going bad or is it some other part of the drivetrain? Any help is welcome here in the next few months my car is going to going on some long trips in the mountains and i would like to get this issue fixed. Thanks in advance!

Come to think about it, a broke motor mount could cause a similar prob.
