Its dead.. Engine fan on a 92 SC400.. help
Well today on my way home from school i decided to go out for a drive. No more then 10min after leaving the car gets way hot. I baby the car home pull in the drive way and pop the hood to find the hydralic fan dead. It spins freely but i have to spin it. The fulid was full and looked good but the damn thing wont spin anymore.
Im just going to buy an electric fan to put in its place.......... But my question is how do i remove the old fan?
Since its hydralic is there something special that needs to be done? Any help is welcome!

The best way I found to do it was
1. Remove the old fan
2. Get the LS400 fan bracket + pulley
3. Install your electric fan
Only thing is im not sure what you do with the leftover lines from my hydraulic lines.
I haven't done it yet so maybe someone else can chime in here.

Thanks for the info.
Where can i purchase a LS400 fan bracket +pulley?
That is the only real problem i see with this project is what to do with the left over line and pump?
Edit: This may sound stupid but why do i need a LS400 fan bracket and pulley?

Before you start that conversion you should try to replace the cooling fan ecu .There is no way to remove the hydraulic pump unless you make some type of custom pulley .You WILL destroy the pump if you run it without oil .Ive been there done that experimenting with my first sc4,and after all that work i just ended up spending more money to get lines that i chopped to get the hydro fan running .

Electric fans would be lighter and you could come up with an idler pulley to replace the hyd. pump and do away with hoses. I know Jibby did it on his car. I will leave mine alone as long as it is working. Im just wondering what temp. control sensor is going to turn the fans off and on.

Im not planning on going FI anytime soon. I just like the idea of a nice clean electric set-up over the bulky hyd. one.
I dont think is much cooling diff. between an electric fan and the hydr. is there?

havoc you should try searching to find the old thread of Jibbys on thhis forum, that talked about what he did for an idler pulley to repl. the hyd.pump, which should be one of the first orders of business.
