you cant use the GE ECU. you can use the auto 1j ECU with your 5spd transmission, thats what i did. and yes, you need to cut and solder the speed sensor plugs and i would also suggest extending the wire a little bit just in case.

You can not not use the GE ECU with the GTE motor.

You can use the auto GTE ECU with the 5 speed.

Which plug is the speed sensor plug? The larger gray one, or the smaller black one?

So, has anyone figured out the airbag light yet?

Airbag light on=airbags not being functional

that scares me as I've experienced an airbag up close and personal and they work!

my airbag light never came on i dont think. i know i had to mess with the wiring to a couple of the pass side body plugs. basically i compared wiring diagrams and put wires in the correct pins. try looking through diagrams of those body plugs to see if the problem lies there.

Dude, I'll never figure that out. Wiring to me and reading schematics is like trying to decipher Hieroglyphs...it ain't happening.

thanks bro, just started pulling the 1jz harness off the engine tonight! Got down to the crank angle, and I gave up for the night.

I'm going to have to pull the harmonic dampner to get to it.

EDIT: Didn't need to pull the crank angle sensor in order to send harness to Phoenix Tuning.

It's all well and good, but there are many more Chaser 1jz's left then the snap-in soarer 1jz that only needs 18" of extending wires.

I think that is more relevant now then when this thread was referencing the Soarer 1jz's.
