Do you guys have measurements of a soarer trans yet?? If not I will go home in a little bit ( im at work ).. and take measurements and pictures. I have a soarer transmission (1jz bellhousing, extended shifter housing, and swan necked shifter). I can also take pictures with the mk3 shifter in it to show how much further you guys who dont have my shifter have to extend it.

hey guys- sorry I've been MIA for a couple months.. I got a new job, finished up school, etc.

I can't seem to find the pics I took during the swap. They were originally on my friend's camera (about 10 weeks ago)- I'll double check one last time. If I can't find them, I'll just crawl under the low rider and take some more pics.

I've driven it about 2,500 miles so far- no problems of any kind. Shifts like butter- and the throws are precise as well. Tranny is holding up great

So, in a nutshell- YES, this is a cheaper alternative to a $300+ "shifter extension".

If you guys need any more info or have any questions, feel free to ask in this thread. I'll check it daily.

okay guys, need to make sure i get this right here. here's what i got from this thread.

1jz housing and mkiii r154 measure 26 inches from front of bellhousing to 2 pins.

joewitafro's post measures his to be 27 for the soarer (which uses the parts blizzy ordered from japan).

from this, i deduce i need to bent the shifter back only an inch, not the 2-3 inches. does this sound about right to everyone?

^^ What do u have done? If you have a stock Mk3 trans with 1jz bellhousing u are at 26 inches, you need to bend it back 1" to accomidate that. Now, my shifter is also swan necked 1" more than the mk3 shifter. So if you are bending the shifter, you need it to be around 2-2.25 inches. Check out my measurements for the shifter placement.

nothing has been modified yet. okay, so on ur 3rd pic, that's from the bellhousing to the bottom of the shifter damper(or whatever u call it) and that measure's 29 inches, right. this is a first for me reading that the soarer shifter is an inch over the mkiii shifter. interesting. will let u know tomorrow.

alright, i cut the shifter...2 inches from the bottom of the vibration dampener (the black part of the rod). here's the problem: the rod is not a solid piece all the way to where the **** screws in, as i was assuming. it actually only goes about an inch, an inch and a half above the bottom of the dampener so it is much shorter than i expected (3.5 inches shorter if i remember correctly). simply heating and bending will not work as there is not enough length to do this.

so now the plan is to do something like what 2jzlex did on post #6: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=355167

since mine no longer has the dampener, i'll have to use another rod to attach to my existing bottom half of the shifter...damn. so much for the easy heat and bend method.

or does anyone have an extra r154 shifter i can buy for cheap?

A bit of advice if you are making a shifter housing longer than a few inches.

DO NOT follow the same plane that the shifter plate is already in. The extension housing needs to be angled up slightly 10 degrees or so from the original plane, or the geometry is all wrong and you won't be able to shift.

Hey I am doing a r154 swap into my 97 sc300 and wanted to know what are the exact measurements that the tranny should be to fit.

Also if you had any pics it would be great. I am in the middle of my swap now and this is my hold up.

THat and power steering issue

Thanks,

GP
