waaayyyy to variable bro, it all depends how much work you do yourself and what you want out of the motor. i'd say have at least 3-3.5k to play with before the swap.

You didn't say if the 2jz you found was JDM or USDM. I may be wrong, but I thought JDM 2jz-gte have 280hp also. Please correct me if I am. I think that some people like the higher rev limit of the 1jz and the simplicity of installing it. I had a choice of either but chose the 1jz, because I wanted a daily driver with the potential of 350-400hp without extra labor cost. Hell you will be faster than 80%-90% of the cars on the road with the 1jz. And I found despite what others have said, parts are easier to come by.

Now if you want a beast go with 2jz. And I am the least knowledgable person on the forum. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck.

The JDM 2JZ was advertised to have 280 horsepower in Japan because of an agreement between companies to limit horsepower of their high performance cars. It was mostly just an advertising ploy though.
