banging into gear on freeway
#16
ok i haven't jacked it up yet, but today while driving. i decided to experiment. while i was rolling down the freeway at around 50mph. it did as always, start to slow down, so i put it into neutral. and it rolled down just like how it supposed to! so my tranny is like staying in gear when i hit around 50mph...well the tranny flush and stuff help this or is it more difficult then that...

So when you get it up to say 70mph, if you engage and dis-engage, you can feel it properly get in and out of overdrive. If your not sure maybe report back your rpm's at a given highway speed. I'm no tranny expert, but I'm pretty sure your tranny never actually shift into neutral, but maybe something in the valve body allows the torque converter to transfer less power. You know most national chains for tranny places will give you a estimate and test drive your car to give you a idea on the damage.
Hell they may drive your car and tell you a switch is out or something simple.
I will TOTALLY agree with the above poster, DONT get the transmission rebuilt. I've had bad luck twice on 2 different makes and tranny rebuilders. Best advice is if it is your transmission, get one out of a low mileage wrecked Lexus.
Hope all turns out okay.

ok so i was on the highway. and at around 50 mph. when overdrive is on it's at about 1.5-1.7 when i turn overdrive off it shoots up to about 2-2.2 around there. any one know if somethigns wrong? or just take um to a tranny shop and see if they can figure out....

ok so i was driving it again last night on the freeway, mostly cruise control, but when i took it off when i was at around 60 mph, and it would slow down. i could hear it sounded like the brake was slightly on when i wasn't pressing anything. could the sticking caliper only happen at higher speeds? cuz thats the only time it seems to happen for me...
