Default 2Jz Ge Best bang for the Buck?!

Hey I currently own a stock Engine wise 97 Auto (kinda wish was manual but hear autos good if I where to turbo cuts down on turbo lag.) Sc300 with 80k miles with the 2jz Ge, and was wondering what the best bang for my buck would be performance wise I now not to many keep the 2jz ge, and end up swapping with the 1jz and Gte is it practical to get some nice performance outa my Ge?? Should I NA-T, TT or one nice Single Turbo not looking to swap Engines but might because just a spark plug job was ridiculous, lol I couldn't imagine anything half serious lol.

With the prices of the JDM 2JZGTE's coming down to where they're at right now, it wouldn't be too smart to go any other route.

Btw, the spark plug job isn't as bad as you'd think. I thought I'd have to take the intake mani off to replace the plugs but I was able to remove just the throttle body to complete the job. The whole ordeal took about an hour.

So your engine only has 80K miles? If that's so, then I would just go NA-T. You could do a swap but why when you already have a capable motor in your engine bay. I guess it all depends on your power goals.

I'd disagree with that. A GTE swap is never a bad idea, but NA-T certainly isn't idiotic.

doing an na-t setup will definitely be good considering down time will almost be none at all and there are plenty of guys making 500+ on that type of setup.

Yea I figure was doing a little research to see the potential in turboing the 2jz-ge. What ever I decide to do, I will definitely not be doing an engine swap seems stupid to swap a perfectly good engine.... and im not looking to make a race car, although the 2jz Ge is a pain to work on...just changing spark plugs proved quit annoying.

With an engine with that low of mileage definitely go NA-T. Check out www.clubna-t.com . Questions that you may have about going NA-T can be answered here simply by searching or posting a question. It is amazing how much I have learned over the years simply by reading and posting questions here on Club Lexus and on Club NA-T. Good luck!

Check out the XS Power kit on Club NA-T. Some people may have negative things to say about it but many many people are using this kit and have experienced no problems, including myself. The kit is $1299 and you will be easily making 300rwhp without a problem on low boost. Mark (XS Power employee) is a great guy, and will answer any questions you have, plus I am almost positive that everything comes with a warranty. He has made great efforts (and succeeded) in the NA-T community to provide quality parts at a low price.

on a low to med milage ge motor thats been taken care of 425-480 is easy to reach and very safe if done right

my car is a 97 coverted to r154 5 sp and puts down about 470rwhp at 18psi witha/f steady at 11.3

parts used

2.5 mm boostlogic headgasket brings compression down to about 8.3 to 1
550 injectors more then enough for this power level
t67dbb with a back housing of .68 a/r
44mm tiaL wastegate with 12lb spring
tial 50mm blow off valve
map ecu v3 for fuel control
precison 3 row intercooler

parts listed is all it takes i can get 500 rwhp at 19 psi if i lean out closer to 12 but i decided to stay rich in case of spike or creep 470 is enough to kick ****

Yea I would be extremely happy with a setup like this its just im Extremely new to Turbos and the whole NA-T never really put much time or thought into modding a car but the Sc's Deserve it and if I could get a nice setup for 1.5 or 2k id be happy with 450 or so rwhp.
