I got my 92 sc300 5speed a couple weeks ago, bone stock, i just replaced the distributor oil ring and i'm not 100% sure it's lined up correctly but it's pretty damn close. but before and after the fix it starts idle at 1500-1700 off a cold 40F start, then after a minute or two it's down to 800-900, then maybe after a couple minutes of city driving it's 700. After i bought the car i had to do emissions and after doing some freeway driving for 15-20 mins when they tested it was solid between 700-710RPM.
I'm not absolutely sure on the condition of the motor but it seems pretty damn good. Probably just toyota 2JZ quality for ya. i need to bring it in to lexus to have them go over the whole thing, which is like 100 bucks for their diagnostic, then go through their recommendations and have my mechanic do the stuff i can't.
This motor is getting replaced by a 1JZGTE during summer hopefully.

try resetting the ecu. where did you buy the car from? the atmospheric pressure may be different. so reset the ecu so it relearns a new idle. i believe thats what happened with mine.
