Good write up with info, regardless if its new or not. Doing a single swap is no big deal either, but its pretty commendable to take the time to post up your methods and part numbers, and even pics for that matter. Now, I am curious if you have any more info on the variable steering??? Is there anything else that you took off/capped? I know the lines that you're talking about, but never knew what they went to. Is there some kind of pump/canister that you can remove also?

Jon

P.S. Did you put the hose together yourself? Or did you have it premade?

Wish I would have thought of this before getting a local hose company to rebuild mine. Was still a hell of a lot cheaper than a factory replacement but just dont like the long bend and mounting position of the lines on the car. Oh well, maybe next time

Default Great idea but I've found a snag

I built the hose and it is awesome, but I've run into a snag. The 16mm AN adaptor bottoms out in the rack before the collar seats. The fix I can think of would be 1. stack 2 to 3 copper crush washers but I'm afraid that might leak. 2. saw off some threads of the AN adaptor, but I'm not sure if that's a great idea either. Any suggestions?

hmmm I would go with the first idea. You could sand the bolt down but the issue is that you would have to make sure that it is level. If making it level is not an issue I would do that. Of course clean it all reall good after you create the shavings.

Thanks for the input zmegoby. I really was not that keen on cutting threads either. I really don't think stacking crush washers would leak, but I also don't have a lot of experience with this. Maybe even a copper crush on the bottom and a steel washer to take up the extra distance. Even some toyota orange FIPG under the steel washer?

Thanks for all the part numbers.

Where did you get one foot of the blue power steering line? Or did you buy a longer lenght and cut it down?

Ok,
Well I stacked two pretty thick copper crush washers and got the correct fit. We'll see if it leaks.

I got all parts at anplumbing dot com.

Wow this thread is back from the dead! I used 2 copper washers to remedy the adapter issue (No leaks going on 15 months)

As far as the line I bought extra so my club can all make them for their cars + I think the shortest length they sell is 3 feet......I miss my lexus...

anplumbing sells per foot. I just bought 1 foot.

thanks for the reply about the washers. I guess I came to the same conclusion. I actually got a couple thicker washers. Did you just cut the banjo copper washer and stick them together?
