Finally! The SC300 will again be turbocharged!!!!

I think you missed the other threads. There are two major projects coming up. (speaking of which, I got the A/D converters today from digikey). Look for the datalogger thread and the JDM GTE ECU thread. Show me the "well-travelled" path for those; because I'd love to get some pointers on how to do it.
I'm hoping with this thread I'll be able to point to a bunch of parts and say: do this and make 500whp for around $3000. Might go to $4k, and thats all considering DIY labor costs: $0
Here's some pics from a "little" package the friendly fedex man dropped off
4" vs 3" downpipe. Notice the weird ending on the downpipe. This downpipe and midpipe (in another pic) were created by Mark (98mkiv) and was made for his GT45 kit. That turbo has a 3.75" (i think) vband exhaust side. I am using the T61 (aka a XSPower T70 - has ~63mm compressor wheel inducer) which has a 3" vband discharge. The weird flange on the downpipe is a reducer. It takes the 4" diameter and gives it a 3.75" ending. I measured and it seems that a 3" vband flange may JUST fit if you lop off the little flange-end and leave the large transition piece there. I will show pics of it later on when I get to modifying this downpipe. Looks like very easy work.

I took the compressor off the turbo tonight and measured.
~66mm inducer and a ~89mm exducer.
Its a 6-blade compressor and appears to be a p-trim .68 a/r exhaust.
Its rated as a T61 and most people are getting ~450whp at 17psi using the KVF and a 3" exhaust; so we'll see how my 3" intercooler piping and 4" exhaust work out. I've seen similar reports on various forums of well over 500whp at 18psi with these mods; but on other cars. Will have to see...
Also, I was reading on theturboforum.com about a guy who used a Super T70 turbo from ebay. He has a suspicion that the turbo chra is a turbonetics unit because his chra has a ground-out spot between the oil feed and drain that looks like a turbonetics logo. I checked mine and I also have this logo. I'll get pics up soon. But the legit reviews for this turbo look inspiring. The epoxy turbo has been proven to be a fake along with some of the failure documentation. Most failures that have been completely documented have been shown to be the fault of the owner, not the manufacturer. Usually due to improper oiling or other maintenance.
I also found out that the chinese got ahold of the casts for the Master Power turbos (a respectable Brazillian turbo manufacturer that used Garret parts until it lost its license) and used to make the various parts for it. Eventually master power went on to make their own turbos instead of outsourcing, but it makes you wonder what happened to the chinese.
In other news, the 4" downpipe will require the 3.75" vband flange to be lopped off in place of a 3" flange. The dp was created using the GTE manifold as a test unit. And by analysis, that manifold does not have the ~15-20 degree angle on it that the GE manifold has. When I looked at the 3" downpipe vs the 4" downpipe, it looks like the 4" dp will also require a ~15 degree bend on the 3" vband flange when I have it welded together just so it fits. I will make sure I take pics of the entire process.
