funny thing is that includes the greddy exhaust, safc2, usdm 550 injectors, 7m resistor pack, 1j t3 mani, 40mm wg, hx35 turbo and braided oil lines.

the $250 fmic kit would put it over the 800 mark... but i got it for the twins so im not counting it.

needless to say i got amazing deals on stuff....

Very good deals... Now just hope that it makes decent numbers to save face of using cheap parts on a Lexus!

Cool

Holset HX/HY (same thing+internal gate & different AR) are the best used turbo's going.
They're FAR more reliable than GT's.
They have as much, if not better technology in them.
Most 30, 35, and 40's sold online for under $250 are in a 98% new condition.

The only downside is it's not an instant, or great spool by any means like alot of people say. Without chaging the turbine housing down into the less common mid .30s to low 40s A/R range from the .50+ A/R they come in they are relatively slow.
They ARE faster than the an ancient T's
They are NOT faster than a GT
And don't begin to think they're remotely in the same spool leage as a well matched H*30 or H*35 will touch a t3 .63(.84-.96) / t04e 60-trim hybrid.

They also LIKE to be pushed hard! 3bar is happy-town for a modern holset compressor side.

Where they excell is being 450-550bhp $200 used turbos, or $600 rebuilt units.
Personally, unless cost is simply a cost saving consideration (or you WANT to rebuild and get a slightly smaller housing) I would not put an HX/HY on my short list of turbos I would match to a low displacement, slow revving engine.
We get away with it on the 3.0L v6's somewhat because they have the displacement, powerband and faster revving to let you get away with it.

define decent numbers...

and the way i look at it is... if it dosent make "decent numbers" its ok, i only spent 800 on the setup and can easily change out the turbo later if need be.

Decent numbers on a single setup is over 400whp.

Yes, the GT series turbo is very unreliable.. I'm going on my 2nd rebuild... but it sure does make power

Something is wrong because I put GT turbos on cars all day long w/o any issues. I also use anti lag and 2-step launches, too.
