Default Automatic Transmission Swap

Hi All,

I have a 96 SC400 with a slipping automatic Tranny. I bought another automatic Tranny from a buddy who stated his car was a 96 then found out its not. When i try installing it this morning the Tranny thats in the car has a 8pin wire harness and the one i bought has a 6pin tranny. Do anyone had this problem in the past and is there a quick fix? I heard that the two extra pins may be for the reverse lights. I'm not sure.

i got into that exact situation, my mechanic claims that those two extra pins are for tranny temperature sensor. I am not so sure about it. Don't try to cut wires and etc. Best of luck is to get another one. Not fun to mess with. You will see all kinds of dash lights.

If I have another tranny that has a 8pin harness would it matter the year?

96 works with a 96, if you want to tinker be my guest. i have been selling parts for 10 years, labor on these cars is expensive and takes time, if you have time you can tinker with it.

You might want to pm JIBBY. He recently had transmission and he found out which tranny is compatible.
