Default SC400 Auto to Manual Conversion?

I'm in the process of purchasing a 1jz motor with a manual transmission.

If i wanted to change my 400 to manual what do i need and how much do u think it would cost to change it? Is it worth it?

I think i know the basics: Clutch pedal assembly (from sc300<right?>)
clutch reservoir

What else do i need for the swap?

I know Scott had a thread when he swapped in a v160 but it was bolted to a 1uz, so i hope that this swap would not be as difficult or expensive as his.

With a 5 speed, Not so much. 5 speed it becomes more important

As far as cost, there are a lot of prices out there. Used is just that and it is hard to guess what it will cost. As far as used pedal sets, if you are lucky enough to find them probally around $200 will get the pedals and MC. The real cost is the tranny, 1uz adaptor, and clutch. Make no mistake, putting a manual tranny behind the 1uz can get pricy.

Look at Marks (Blizzy) thread, he seems to be doing a 5 speed at a very economical cost. Hats off Mark!

From what I have read, it seems like you are more interested in the 1JZ than the 1UZ/5MT. If you are not completely committed to the 1UZ/5MT project with every mental, physical, and financial fiber of your being, you will find yourself not making it to the finish line.

If you want a V8 with a stick more than anything, go for it and don't look back. If you just want to get down the road fastly and furiously, the GTE motor swaps are the way to go for ease of handling and the extensive knowledge base that already exists on the topic.

send me private messages anytime, man. I get random private messages with questions about this or that all the time. I take pride in returning every last one.

Your dream is definitely a dream of a number of we V8 guys. If I had more money, I would have gone turbo. I am just trying my hardest to do the best with the money I have. But, yeah, ask me all the questions you want...
