i deleted both the resanators and mufflers of my sc300 and it has a real exotic tone and is pretty raspy, but a good kind, not like a honda raspy, when i just had the mufflers off it had a nice deep tone, either way its going to sound great

they dont just put the resonators on cars for the hell of it. It does make a big difference (sound wise) on any car when you remove them, whether its a 4 cyl, 6 cyl, 8 cyl. The resonators behind the mufflers are designed to work to cancel out mostly high pressure noise. My friend's G35 coupe is completely stock, but it sounds pretty loud (for stock) when you accelerate harder. The same thing with my old Corolla (also stock). It was really quite until you took it up to high acceleration; then it really came alive. Its because both cars dont have resonators, they simply have mufflers that primarily cancel low pressure noise, at least thats my theory. Lexus probably uses resonators because most lexus shoppers prefer more refined cars.

i tried running with just open headers! MAN! What a monster! i love its MEAN sound! but its definitely very loud! was just trying it.. maybe i would weld in a cut out so when i feel like scaring people, its just a flip of a switch away.. hehe... i have gutted cats then straight pipe to two mufflers, its surprisingly quite, im planning to delete the mufflers as well and see how that goes.. when i gutted my cats, it sounded a bit louder and there is this can like sound at low rpms.. hmm.. i also plan to get decent headers in the future..
