So question for all the r154 owners. What bracket are you guys using for the reansmission mount? Ive tried the 1jz mk3 and that did not work. Im currently using the auto sc bracket but this raises the tranny about a inch higher than it should be.Are you gyus using the soarer bracket?

By the way I have a used r154 soarer shifter top bracket that will give you 27 inches to the middle and a brand new shifter lever that will lengthen so you can use the bracket. I am selling both parts for $160. I might be able to also find more from my connection in Japan if anyone else is interested in those parts. I have a for sale ad that has the parts number for these parts in the classified section.

From what I'm used to, is cut the support piece:
Figure out how far the shifter will go in 1st, 3rd and 5th and weld a small sheet of steel where the support piece used to be. You'll give yourself enough clearance for the shifter.
As for the weird shifter angle, it's easily fixed with a shifter extension piece. You'll need the dog leg extension:
We've always got our extender pieces at Autobacs, but they're out of business now.

why not just use the swan neck shifter where the bend is right from the tranny instead of cutting that piece and adding a dog leg at the top?
I imagine you would need a new shifter plate or boot to make that work

I have been doing my tranny work today for fitment while I install my engine. I am using the bracket that came with the tranny and it fits right up. My r154 comes from the soarer.

FYI: somebody posted this in supraforums, about using some short throw shifter to put the shifter in its appropriate location. post #29.
