Max hp with pretty much stock 2jz-ge
I've read a-lot of info but, I haven't seen how much the stock GE head is capable of. I have a 700 RWHP GTE supra and I'm looking to build a sc300 as well. I know the stock GE bottom end is good for about 1000 RWHP, so how much is the better flowing head good for? Is the distributor capable of handling that much power? Is 800-900 rwhp a reliable option with this mod list.

Ok I searched more... I think it would be easier to just swap to a GTE head. Here's what I've seen is needed for high HP on NA head.
-AEM or standalone
-some kind of coil pack ignition modual
-voltage booster
-MkIII crank sensor
-wiring like a ****
-coil packs
-Dave H intake manifold or similar
-modifying AEM to hall
-battery/fuse relocation
-Prolly other **** as well
or
-TT head w/ sensors etc..
-possibly new oil pump
-TT alternator
-accelerator and CC cables
-wiring like a ****
-prolly other **** as well
So it seems about the same amount of work, but the TT head will cost less w/ stock intake manifold. Plus you can use map ecu or whatever you like... I'm sure this isn't the best info but it's what I've come up with in the past 2 hours of searching and maybe it will help someone...

thanks for the info. I am going NA-t and almost doen but want coil packs. but am using an AEM FIC 8. Can someone tell me if this can control the coil packs and a 7m crank sensor, coil packs, ignitor,clips..

I have an unported GE head with 272 cams and no distributor; A dual-pole Hall sensor is used for cam and crank signals). Numbers and setup are in my sig.
I believe the 900 mark is possible if I ever get the darn thing to spool to 36 psi. As you can see, the GE head flows just fine...

Okay im trying to find out the limits of the bottom end of the GE motor, and I know its not 1000hp like stated in first post. I know this is an old thread, but I need to know whats the limits of a full standalone block? I have a stock motor aside from a 2.0mm HG and ARP head studs...what else do I need for 550 SAFE RWHP?

I think that 1000 call was way over the top for a stock GE bottom end. I believe 600-650 is pretty much the limit if you want to retain any significant longevity. It should hold up to 550 just fine. If your head is in good shape, it should be ok too. Did you have it gone over when you changed the HG? Of course a new Gates timing belt AND a new belt tensioner is a good idea as well. And then there's always reliable fuel delivery and engine management. And . . .

^ that's what people say,and this is the way i look at it if you are looking for if you are aiming for 6-700rwhp it doesn't matther how the head flow or which one flows better you need head work no question ask.
E85/ C16 or Q16 of of them.
And 1000rwhp on bone stock GE block , i have never seen one i think 900 is pushing it and asking for trouble on stock internals.

Do GTE cam's work in GE motors and is there any gains to this swap?
Preferably is their any list of what parts out of a GTE can be used in a GE.
That would make my build 110% easier.

Has anyone ever added an MSD ignition upgrade for the stock distributor? Thats how every other v8 guy does it, and they spin their **** 8000rpm at the dirt tracks and they are fine. Also how the hell are you running stock n/a pistons and getting away with 800hp? I would assume the n/a pistons are just cast and not a forged product, so i would assume you are saying 800hp with stock rods and crank but upgraded pistons.

oldschool v8 guys run the dizzy because they couldn't upgrade to coil on plug as easily as us, because the old dizzys don't put out the cam/crank signals. If you go aftermarket though you will notice companies like MSD sell replacement distributors for the old v8's that actually have the sensors in them now, so you could run a coil on plug setup without having to do a bunch of custom work to triggerwheels etc.. so it was more of a easier route thing.
as for the TT vs NA pistons, the pistons are the same material as the TT piston.
They just dont have the dish on top which helps lower the compression some.
