Yea I would go with an OEM serpentine (drive) belt. Here is a diy: http://arrc.epnet.com/autoapp/9307LE...LLATIO1.htm#T1

crank seal
disty o-ring
throttle body and MAF gaskets
thermostat gasket
plugs / wires / cap / rotor
fuel filter / oil filter
fluid flush / change
valve cover gaskets
silicone vacuum hoses
serp belt
Your suggestions were on the money though... thanks for the input! I will either come out of this with a 08 sc300, or a 94 sc300 that doesn't drive lol.
Glad to hear it was a straight forward 4 hour job. I will have another CL member helping me and we have a full weekend, and 1,000,000 coronas to do it.

Heres a good trick to make changing the serpentine belt easier
Locate the tensioner, place appropiate socket and breaker bar or wrench on the nut..
It is sometimes arkward and it may seem hard to move that bugger..
So.. just use your free hand and pull up on the longest part of the belt (usually running over the top 2 pulleys) ..this causes the tensioner to move a bit..and you can use little to no strength to turn it to get tension off the belt.

So according to my paper work the previous owner had the timing belt changed at 90k. There is 178k on it now so I figured it would be at least somewhat bad looking.
I don't have a ton of experience w/ t-belts, but this thing looks like it has some life left to me... what do you think?

Yea the timing belts should last 100k easily, but they recommend you change it to be on the safe side. I'm sure you can go on it for a bit longer. Your 94 sc300 is non-interference so if it snaps while driving it won't mess anything up. Although, I wouldn't want to be stranded somewhere when it does.

Mine lasted 180,000 miles and it could have went longer. The thing had some minor little cracks here and there. Don't get me wrong, I do not recommend going that long! I bought mmy SC with 15oK and didn't get around to doing the major service for another 30K.

When they change the belt, they change the belt idler and tensioner, so that might be what you are hearing, one of those going out.
