1JZ w/ 420hp Street Clutch Suggestions ?
I am doing a 1JZ swap into my Lexus and will have around 420hp. It currently has a 6-puck clutch which is not great for daily driving, so I am going to switch it out.
Any suggestions ?? Something that will hold up to 550 TQ at least.
ACT ?
RPS ?
Exedy ?
SPEC ?
This will be for a daily driven car, W-58, 5-spd tranny.

act 6 puck sprung. call it a day. that clutch is very good. if you think that is not daily drivable then maybe learning how to drive is in order prior to doing any type of swaps JK
im putting an ACT 6 puck unsprung into my sr20 in my s13. thats when you start talking about on/off switch clutches.

I am a very good driver, I do track racing all the time, so that is not the problem. But maybe I will keep this clutch and see how it feels first. Everyone justs keeps telling me that a 6-puck isn't great for daily driving, so that is why I asked.

I have a Kevlar/Kevlar Stage 3 Clutch that is handling 450whp and is indistinguishable from the oem it replaced at swap. Very streetable, holds the power when asked.

Competition Clutch Stage 4
Sprung 6 puck and a pressure plate that holds up to 500ft lbs tq.
And best part about this setup is the way it feels, close to stock.
it just takes a little time to get used to.

Theoretically, suppose you get to 550TQ on a W-58? You'll be lucky to get off the dyno. Do you have a bucket ready for the shrapnel that will become your transmission, that's well beyond the numbers most of us get away with.

Hang on here, imho you're screwed up with these numbers. How do you plan to make 420hp and 550tq? Not going to happen that way, perhaps 385tq.

I like to be extra careful and have always used clutches that will exceed what I will actually make. Hence the reason I wanted something for around that much.

i had a act 6 puck sprung in my last 1jz and i made 440whp and 430 tq and it felt good. daily drove it and clutch pedal was a little stiffer than stock. never slipped once and i would clutch it in 3rd all the time ( drifting ). chatter was minimal and easy to slip while driving on the street.

why not give the new company a try? It's called competition clutch. Many people seem to like it. i have it for my g35 it's on twinturbos with a built motor. Not yet installed though so i can't tell you how they feel
