My SC400 Tranny is leaking so I bought a new one. NOW THS
my mechiance just called me and asked if I had the TC for the new tranny ( used with 60k miles). I said no just use the one I have in my leaking tranny he told me that it would cause problems if he did very soon. He wants me to get a new one or one from that tranny. Is he full of **** or telling the truth?
Thanks all

How Bad Is It Leaking Man, How Many Miles On Your Car? If It Ran Fine Before That Then It Shouldnt Take A Dump On You Right Away. Mechanics Don't Always Tell The Truth...lol Trust Me Iv Worked At A Shop Before.

If you want a decent price on a used SC400 torque converter, I have one with just under 70k miles sitting in my garage left over from my swap.
In terms of what to do, it is up to you. Putting a high mileage torque converter on a low mileage transmission does present a potential failure point. And, if you do not have the ability to perform transmission work on your own, you might consider just biting the bullet now to minimize the chance of future visits to the mechanic for a similar (labor-intensive) issue that could have been otherwise avoided.
