neutral safety switch
#3
Ive done 2 swaps and am about to get started on a 3rd one this week. After months of research I just couldnt figure out how to bypass the neutral safety switch so I can start the car with the turn of the key. What I did was:
- I grabbed the biggest harness plug left over from the auto tranny.
- Using a power tester you poke every pin (while having the key in the "ON" position) until two of them light up.
- You cut and splice those two wires.
- Extend them into the center console.
- Hook them up to a two pin switch (push start button) which will enable you to start your car when the key is in the "ON" position.
--------------------------------
Reverse Lights
--------------------------------
Alright so wiring up the reverse lights is fairly easy. I followed the instructions in one of my favorite links:
http://mkiv.com/techarticles/auto_to_6spd_swap/install_6spd/index.html
Really helpful website. Your little "R" indicator in the cluster will light up every time you put it into reverse.
I hope you find this info useful. Good luck.
