I just stepped on the release bearing and did some michael jackson spins, its sounds and spins perfectly fine, but as we said above, I'm more than likely going to replace the whole thing since its all off. I plan on selling the car so this would benefit on behalf of the buyer.

I'm in LA area from glendale to north hollywood. Where are you located?

Quick update.

Been really short on time, but all I did was remove the pressure plate and flywheel and the culprit was found. The pilot bearing is completely shot. It would not spin. It looks welded into place and I'm having one hell of a time attempting to remove it. What ended up happening is I damaged and removed the inner ring along with the bearings and am attempting to shave the outter ring until its integrity becomes compromised and I can pry it out.

Wow that sounds like a nightmare. Especially from under the car!

Dude, if you could only imagine... the suffering... the pain... the labor...

So I finally got the bearing off, greased up the new one and hammered it in. I am now attempting to get the tranny back up but something is not properly lining up. We tried already for about 2 hours trying to get the tranny in. We're now going to remove the mount bolts as suggested above and see if we can get it in.

Any tips?

Wow... who would have thought that the stupid stock intake would be stiff enough to hold the motor from jiggling enough for us to man handle that shaft back into that stupid small pilot bearing hole... wow...
So... in other words... we finally got it together... temporarily bolted it down and the tranny mount as well. Will hopefully wrap things up tomorrow or the following day.
