Default 1JZ Swap Help

I have a 1JZ & R154 Transmission, and need to know what I need to make the swap into my '96 SC300 easier for me.

1st, how do I know if I have a supra 1jz or soarer 1jz? I ask because I also need help with wiring. Sean @ Tech2motorsports said he can make a PnP setup, but is he any good or even legit?

I need to have the shifter extended right? Does anyone sell that part only, or do i have to get if off of a soarer r154? or custom made?

Do I need a custom driveshaft, or can i use my stock one?

Is there anything I need to do to the motor itself to make it swap into my SC?

And finally, what transmission mount do I use? And crossmember?

Any other tips would help too.

Thanks for any help!

To tell the motors apart, look at the ECU, if it's a 2pin tall ECU, it's a Supra, if it's 4pins tall (and rear sump oil pan) it's a Soarer, and if it's 4pin tall, and front sump, it's a Chaser motor.

If it's a Soarer motor, you don't have to extend the shifter, if it's a Supra you do (I believe, don't quote me for sure on this, just trying to answer your questions.)

I'm pretty sure the stock driveshaft works.

The 1JZGTE 5spd IS a R154. Not sure what you're talking about with using a "1J bellhousing"

The motor is a direct swap, you just have to have everything you need, such as all the wiring harness and sensors, etc.

If your car is a 5spd already, the W58 trans mount and x-member work.

Once again, I'm not 100% sure on some of these, but other people can correct me if I'm wrong.

thanks for the help!

So now, my main question is wiring....what if its a Supra motor. do i only extend the wires, or is there more to it since its not a soarer motor? Is Tech2Motorsports good? Does anybody know Sean that works there?

What do I need for the Speedo/Tach to work?

And if its not a soarer motor, how do I have the shifter extended?

you can not use your complete stock driveshaft if your car was a manual, you will need the front half of a mk3 driveshaft, as far as wiring its pretty simple just tedious and long. extend 18-21 inches as needed and assuming its a soarer engine harness. you will need to solder a wire on the back of your gauge cluster (look for video on youtube). and then make a ground for your water temp wire where it plugs in to your body plugs (the wire on your factory body receptacles) and then re pin your check engine light wire or cut and solder with the one on your engine harness.... this may sound overwhelming but then again like everyone says do some more research on here and all your answers are there and we all say it from experience... good luck..
