What are the problems with supercharging??

They could've actually saved money going the dual route. If they already had researched, designed and fabbed the hardware to control 4-6 cyls, then why not copy and paste all that, and add some interconnects to run 8. It would also be easier to achieve independent tuning and control for each bank, and therefore better operating efficiency.

The GS400 and SC400 have the same engines. just the SC400 might be tuned down electronicly like the LS400 (290 instead of 300). Wait-a-minute.. which SC400 are you talkin about?? 98 up??

Yes. '98 & up. It is de-tuned 10 hp and 10 ft-lbs from the GS's specs.
