If you don't want to get burnt from constant leaking fuel, DISCONNECT your fuel pump in the tank from the fuel line before disconnecting the fuel filter. problem solved

Unless you have proper tools this is a difficult job the lexus dealer actually will not do this job in my area and say that the filter is lifetime? I replaced mine and stripped the nut and burned in gas as well. I feel for red phx good thing his arm healed..Lock wrench is your friend. But the fitting is almost welded with oxidation over time making it very difficult to turn the nut.

Lifetime fuel filter, I dont think so. The cleaner the fuel filter the better, and the only way to clean it is to replace it. Need better options.

I think this might be one of those things were if you're shooting for performance from the car, you might be better off replacing the entire fuel line and putting in a high performance filter of choice with AN fittings & line.

Those things can be a bear to get off, and I've seen many rounded off before.

when I changed my fuel filter with an open ended wrench, it still stripped the bolt, so vice grips finished the job .
