Default question! to sc300 2jz-ge owners.

Why is it i can only find a short ram air intake kit for the sc300 for the 92' to 96' models, and not the 97'? Im going crazy on this.
If i were to purchase the kit, would i be able to install it on my 97'? Whats the difference between the years and why? Much appreciated. Thank you.

90% of Sc owners will tell you to do a BFI intake...its pretty much free and from what I have read has decent results.

if you really want an intake, Injen is supposed to make a good intake, but the price tag keeps me away from it...but I can be a cheap *** at times.

those bolt on kits don't give much HP for what it's worth so save your pennies before you go and pick one up. BFI is much better because it moves the filter down into the front bumper for colder air. And it's cheaper but you might need to get a little creative in fabrication.

then just like the other thread why the heck would you put a short ram air intake so you can suck in the heat from the exhaust manifold and all the hot air into your motor??? you won't make any hp from that why not just save your money and do some ducting for airflow

Big
Fu*****
Intake

modified(hacked-up) stock air box modified in a way to provide more air than the stock intake snorkel would allow..search BFI and you will see some examples

The 97 MAF sensor is different than the older years. You can't bolt on an adaptor. I tried on mine. You will probably have to modify it. So I just left mine whole engine stock because when I'm ready, I'll either boost it or swap.
