Default did a compression test on my SC3...

this test was on a warm engine, btw some #'s might be a little off but not by much, should've wrote it down..is this still ok to turbocharge? i was just thinking about installing a thicker HG and ARP head studs...or should i rebuilt my spare shortblock w/ some used GTE pistons i bought awhile back...

cylinder 1: 160 psi
cylinder 2: 170 psi
cylinder 3: 150 psi
cylinder 4: 160 psi
cylinder 5: 165 psi
cylinder 6: 160 psi

numbers look pretty consistent overall. Green light for the turbo in my book.

I would just install the HG and the head studs unless you have some serious power numbers in mind.

most likely the valve seals which is recommended to replace during a hg change, when i did a cold compression test on my sc3 with 170k i cranked until it reached maximum psi on every cylinder which was around 180

i only crank it about 6 times max on each cylinder..maybe should've done more..and when it cranks it sounds kinda weak, i guess b/c i don't have the TB on or unplug any injector clips...

lol...good question, it has about 306K..that's why i did a compression test to see if it's still strong enough to hold up on BOOST! i'll be the first to boost a overmiliege SC300 lol....btw do anyone knows if that thing called RESTORE at the autoparts helps restore compression?

306k? wow!! I thought I was balsy boosting with 227k. I ran compression a few months back and it came back 190 on 1,3,4,5,6 and 175 on cyl 2 so Ill be replacing most of the seals. Good luck!
