Unhappy Blown Head Gasket...Starting a rebuild...

Well, my motor started acting up a few months ago...progressively getting worse. Just what I need during times of hardship

Good news is...I got another N/A motor from "TLDriver" for free
(Thanks Eddie!)

Picked it up last week...

On the way to the shop

Then tore it down...what the head looks like...only 70K miles on the motor

I'll be sending the head out to be cleaned up. I'll have them adjust the valves and add new seals...

Here's the bottom end...my tech and I will be removing the crankshaft and sending it out to get cleaned up as well. When it comes back, new freeze plugs will be in order.

Here are the misc. parts from that motor...I'll be taking most of my old parts and adding them onto this motor...

By the time i'm done, I think it will cost me around $1,500(No labor because i got hooked up...LoL)
I did consider a Turbo swap, but figured it wasn't worth it in the end. I live in Cali, so if I get rolled up...it will cost me another small fortune to reverse the process...I'm not about to get into that headache...

My poor baby...

now if you're taking the crank out, are you putting in new pistons/rods in too?

good time to build up a motor, or maybe slap a thicker head gasket if you see boosting in the future.

Pick up new rod bearings, main bearings, and thrust washers from Clevite while you're at it. Re-hone the cylinders and put some new rings in, and the stock rods/pistons should be just fine.

I love your car, perfect color, hardtop, perfect wheels, everything.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...I might end up beefing those internals up...who knows...it's just money is a little tight right now(Just slightly...)

I'm also considering a lightened flywheel and clutch upgrade...

Gunnar,
I'll definetely keep your suggestion in mind Thanks dude!

hey bro, if you need a 2jz rebuild kit, let me know. I only used the one seal, but the whole kit is there, like the headgaskets and such.

let me know if you need it.
