You could take it to a good exhaust shop and have them check the center cat. conv. temp. If its to hot it could be clogged and robbing H.P.

Wow, if you're running 0-60 in less than 7 seconds than you have nothing to complain about

once again "feel" and "being" are 2 different things. Jump in a old VW bug and take up to 80 mph and then jump in the SC and go 80. The bug will feel like your going 100 + mph (rattle) and with the SC you will feel like you are going slow. Good luck with your car.

Well, like I said, wasn't using any high tech equipment to measure the time. Just a friend and a stopwatch. However, like I said it was on a slight incline, just to err on the side of caution.

Funny you ask if my cats are getting too hot. Whenever I turn the car off, I can hear the whole exhaust underneath crackling and rattling trying to cool off. Is that normal? Is that a sign my cat is getting too hot?

this is normal in all 400 and 300's

around 7 sounds pretty normal for a stock 400...on my 1993 sc400 i did a bfi, ran catbacks and did the normal maintenance (plugs, dist rotor, cap, wires, seafoam, fluids) and probably ran around the same as you.

are you turning OD off, traction off and using the PWR ECU mode while doing the 0-60 sprint?

8 Seconds? 12 Seconds? All of the sudden, do we all drive 4-cylinder Accords? All years of the SC400 produced a quarter mile time very close to 15 seconds, which translates to a 6.5-7.0s 0-60 time. Certainly respectable, and quick enough to have some fun at the discretion of your right foot.

I had the opportunity to race a friend's '04 330i on closed roads. Launched from 2600rpm, hooked up around 4000rpm and went. Only time I've really launched the car like that since I've had it. Car felt good and kept up with the BMW just fine, which according to various automotive publications should be a few ticks faster than my SC400. Not exactly "sluggish" in my books.

PWR ECT was on, but TRAC and OD were both on. It was only like 50 degrees outside too, so I'm sure that helped.

^ then you're headed in the right direction. basic mods that are widely discussed on this forum for the SC400 will increase power...also some components (sp. tire, cd caddy and changer) can be deleted to lighten the load.

Seriously? People actually take out their CD changer to reduce weight? That thing has to weigh a whole 5lbs, if that. I can see if it's broken, but mine works great. Going to the bathroom before getting into the car would yield similar weight reduction results, lol.
