read up on planetsoarer. it was determined that the resonator box actually helps the engine when under load. consider it a capacitor of air when the engine needs it. that's why i went back to stock from my injen.

hmm when you say that it makes sense, but then shouldnt the intake pipe always have air since the throttle body is never fully closed, thus always sucking air? and since the injen intake opening [the cone filter] has so much surface area to suck up air, its not restricted like the stock airbox.

note: this is only considering you have a completely stock intake and not BFI.

I agree with LexAnt. Its kind of like having the ARC induction box and chamber. CAI does mean cold air intake but there is no company out there that actually makes a cold air intake for the SC. Its just something some dealers put in their item description to make a sale. Also, if you're in CA and need smog your car, you will not pass with the CARB number that Injen gives you with the intake unless you're a 98+ SC. But overall it is a great intake. A little too expensive but very appealing with the heat shield.

actually, i have passed smog once with the injen on it. the carb number i have worked for my sc4. the injen is only designed for the 92-95 cars and not the newer cars. reason being is the intake is designed for use with the gen1 maf, the silver rectangular ones. once obd2 came around in 96, the mafs changed over to a cylindrical black one and at that point the injen kit won't work with it.

here's link to prove it
