Just try keeping the DBW and retain stock ecu, thereby retaining vvti. your throttle cable should work the same or you can use an IS pedal assembly, im sure something can be done easily. tweak can do the wiring, or you can compare both ecu pintouts and start moving pins around till you get the ecu to fire up.

if you get all sensors and the wiring behind the dash including the gauge cluster it can make it even easier... my friend did a 5mge with digi dash into a 81 corolla and he move oninto a 1UZFE and using a sc400 gauge cluster...

This is very true. Alot of people who want to do 1uz swaps, would be best of buying an entire sc400 or ls400 that has body damage or something of that nature, if you look on Craigslist people will sell them for like 1k or 1500k and the 1uz rarely dies. usually it needs some new coilpacks and a tuneup, but thats easy stuff. now you have the whole car and can basically transplant all the wiring into your new car and that makes the entire process much easier.
VVti engine parts are alot more expensive, but maybe you may want to try and get just the dash harness, check with aliga, but I think it should work without it you just wont have any gauges till you figure those out.
