has anyone done this swap yet an ls1 motor and 4l60e in a sc

Why? No!!!!! Don't do it...can be done with the right amount of money and custom work. At that point you just brought yourself a 1J or 2J which is a direct swap, did I mention a LARGE turbo kit-saving you lots of time and money. I mean what is your overall goal...dd all motor, or boost and happy. Do your research, and see what's in your best interest...and what you can afford. If all else fails, boost your GE...until you come up with a better plan. That's just my two cents...

Do it ls1 wouldnt be that expensive if you have the ability to fabricate some stuff, plus it would be super sick. I would rather have a ls1 than a 2jzgte

That kinda talk would start a flame war over at supraforums, Lol. They don't take kindly to opinions. I personally like both motors equally, but don't feel the SC is the correct car for the swap. SC's and F-bodies both weigh about 3500 lbs right (mine both did) so wouldn't it be kind of a "sideways" swap instead of actually improving the car? Maybe since the aluminum LS1 motor weighs less it would be attractive to drifters ?

Regardless both are great engines but LS1 swaps just kinda benefit smaller cars (and Fords). For instance, my friends S13 240 ran 11.4 @ 124 on Slicks with a Cam, Longtubes, exhaust LS1/T56 combo that Dyno'd 361. My 3500 lb F-body that made around the same power ran 12.6 @ 112...guess 900 lbs means something huh.

So if I had an LS1 sitting around a spare SC without an engine then...Maybe.

If i had the money i woult get the 2jz instead. I agree with ahhyes300 about the weight and i dont see a point in doing a ls1, unless you just want to show what you can do. If you know how to do it, and not just have some one else do it. 2jz seems alot more fun to me.

If you are a great fabricator and want a one of a kind car, then an LS1 would be the ticket. Myself a low mileage Japenese factory built engine with an upgraded turbo and intercooler that starts at 320 stock h.p. would be way less fab. and you would have more support, trial and error done.

would be cool. alot more avaiable parts for the ls1. also you get to use a manual transmission, do it!

Go for the LS1, buddy, if you can do it. A rare successful engine swap should be cheered up. A big NA engine is hard to beat with kick-in-the butt low end tq. If I'm not mistaken, it has 5.7L. Then if you can put on a centrifugal supercharger, even at low boost, it's a beast.

Tougher than it sounds Steve...That is a complete swap out of motor, loom, transmission, mounts, drive shaft...I do not think it would be easier than a turbo project, especially one like yours, or SUPERCHARGER project like KC, Blizzy, or Scott Marshall, well maybe not Scott's ( His is extremly over the top). If I wanted N/A, I would put in a stroker kit, and some Kelford cams, new engine management, and fuel, and call it a day, except for beefing up the tranny. In my opinion, still easier than a total swap out. Although I am not against it. I just think that is not the best way to go in these cars...

There is a performance shop a few miles from where I live called Blacktraxx Performance. A friend of mine has a friend that works there. He has an SC he bought earlier this year for a project. I believe he is currently swapping an LS1 into his SC. Im not sure if he is done yet but I do know he has also got a 300ZX with an LS1. If you are on ClubLexus please chime in!

Pardon my french, but this thread seems as dumb as that one about the V10.

Seriously, why would you EVER want to put an LS1 into a Lexus? talk about a downgrade. The LS sounds cool and they're pretty powerful (though not really when you consider their rediculous displacement), but thats about it. its design is pretty crappy and early engines suffered from piston slap.

Personally V8 to V8, I'd much rather keep my 1UZ than have an LS1. its much smoother, much more sophisticated, and much more reliable. if you're looking for big power, the JZ is the way to go.

I dont know about this man, my friends S14 with LS1 has no problem what so ever for 2 years running. It's VERY fast by the way
