Default Hesitation, black smoke, overheating ohh God help me!!!

Man i'm so sick of these problems!!!

This car runs when it wants to man, this is crazy.

So i pull up in my moms garage to change the brakes, little did i know that i have no keys for the wheel lug nuts. So i call Discount tire, and they tell me to bring it in and they will take them off.
Cool i say, jump in the car,and bam!!!! The car is hesitating,so i'm smashing on gas and the car just stalls!!! I'm looking at the temp gauge and its going waaaay past hot.

So i try to start it again, and its sputtering and dying on me.I give it a hard gas ,and it smokes black cloud and smells like unburned gas.

So i check the maf sensor and clean it a bit,

check the intake for leaks..none

check the exhaust pipe, unbolt it after the first cat, still no help.

then let it sit for about 3 hours and started again,it ran ok,but after 5 minutes started sputtering again.

Its not the fuel ecu because i bypassed it with the 12v mod.

Now there seems to be a exhaust sound from the exhaust manifold

I'm freakin clueless.

i have new plugs,wires,H/G,dist,rotor,air filter.

Could it be the maf sensor? TPS? ECU?

Please help,i need to go to work monday

i might have to check my plugs and get new distributor,rotors..... its irritating man hang in there dude... you might have to take it to the shop and have them check it out... even though we wouldnt want to and rather DIY... any light engine come on? run it for codes?

See i have everything new done, from headgasket to dist cap, plugs, wires etc.

Well i'm thinking today was almost 70 degrees,it may play a big role.

I'l start it tomorow and see what i get.

I'm thinking afm,tps,clogged cat,02 censor.

The strangest thing is that when i try to drive the car without letting of gas,the car overheats like crazy. So it could be because of running rich?

Oh before i take it to the shop,i'd rather junk this car,lol i'm not paying anyone to work on my car! lol

Update:

Yesterday the car wasnt running,it was 67 degrees.

Today it was 38 and the car started fine and drove normal

So if its a temperature difference then it must be the MAF sensor, since the only thing that measures the air temps is a MAF right? So if the MAF doesnt measure the temps correctly then dumps the fuel, and make it sputter and run rich?

This is so weird.

I'm afraid to get stuck in this car now

take it to the nearest autozone and ask them to check for diagnostic trouble codes stored in the ECU. It sounds like a possible MAF problem, but the temp problem could be just coincidence. You said there was a noise coming from the exhaust. Is there an exhaust leak somewhere in the system?? If so it cold be taking in air and the O2 sensor could be detecting it causing it to dump more fuel into the engine.

Where in Indiana are you btw? Im 20 mins from downtown Indy.

I still think its a clogged cat. The MAF shouldn't be checking temp, just air volume.

Ok another update. I checked the codes, and it shows 31, so i guess it is maf sensor.I pulled another code that was 55-knock sensor, which i had after changing the headgasket.

So i'm waiting on Aliga

Is the MAF code still there? if so it might be a wiring issue to the MAF

So i disconnected the battery yesterda, and took it to Autozone to charge and check.Battery is fully charged and its good. Now i put in the battery last night and tried to start again. It didnt start,so i quit.

Today i go to start it again, and it doest start. So i check the codes and its showing code 31 and 55 again.

I clear the codes and start the car again, and it started

So i check the codes again and it only shows code 55

Took the car around the block and its fine....dives fine like theres no problem. So i'm back in the house and writing this.

I did wiggle the wires under the Intake manifold when i reset the EFI fuse

So you have another MAF in it right now? IT is running bad and it senses the knock code I can see why. It might be a possible coolant temp sensor because if it thinks it is running real hot it dumps fuel to try and lower the cylinder temps ,but it is cool making it go hot real fast. I think it could be a possible ECU issue. Cause it doesn't run correctly and then dies after heating up sometimes. Then it doesn't want to start at all. If you know somebody that is willing to let you borrow or swap ECU's I would try that second. Ask some people on here if they would help you with that.
