so whats the best way to apply vacuum to the valve? just by sucking on it? and about how long, as in is it instantaneous? also if apply vacuum to the valve does not affect it, do i just pray carb cleaner directly in the hole where the hose was connected to?

also when i take off the modulator, how can i open it without breaking to see if the diagphram is torn?

thanks, im just trying to trouble shoot my code 71 as well.

btw car idles high sometimes around 1100k. also when i blip the throttle it would bog.
does this tie into the egr malfuncion or could it be more ignition problem, ie caps, plugs, wires?

thanks for any ideas or support!

For the filter in the modulator you can just pop the cap "PQR" off then clean or just get a new filter (or use fishtank filter)....I had the code for awhile now, just bothers me that the check engine light prevents you from using your traction control. So I followed the EGR delete steps and put a resistor in....don't throw a code anymore which was all I wanted to accomplished. If you have not changed your plugs/cap.roter then I would recommend you do. Good luck
