Default clutch slipping a little in second?

i have a competition stage 4 clutch in a na sc300 with about 2k on the clutch, ok so regular driving, say im at 3000 rpm in second at 30mph say, then i go wot, the car moves but i can hear the clutch spinning briefly, then it fully catches on, a little hard to explain its a noise, is this normal? i also have the same noise when i go from a dig in second, it seems like its spinning on the flywheel a litle bit then grabs back on, only noticed this in second, no slippage on the freeway or in first

it cant be your clutch cause it should happen on 1-3 gear if your at 3k rpms and decide to go WOT. it should be more or less on 1st and 3rd. maybe its your second gear itself in the tranny... i could be wrong. lets hope i am.

Miles on the transmission? last time it was serviced? From what you are saying it's hard to say it's the clutch, because if it was it would slip in pretty much all gears not just 2nd.

I doubt it's the clutch. I put a CC stage 4 in my car last spring and it's held up like a champ, I'd be surprised if an NA car destroyed it in 2,000 miles. When you say "go from a dig in second" do you just mean leaving a light without putting it down in first or are you going full out from a stop in second?

Signs probably point to the transmission unfortunately.

Are you using a stock flywheel or a multipiece lightened flywheel? What type of material is the clutch made of?

no im talking about those times when the light turns green as im aproaching the light and im not going slow enough to shift into first, the tranny has 172000 and i really havent abused the clutch maybe 2 or 3 4000rpm launches, oh and when i did the clutch, i did not resurface the flywheel, but i will do this when i pull the tranny and replace my chattering throwout bearing, and to gunnar, did u use the bearings that came with the kit and do they chatter cause mine sure do

Not resurfacing the flywheel could certainly be causing the noise, I'd for sure get that done. For peace of mind I'd suggest getting new flywheel bolts too since they're torque-to-yield and shouldn't be reused (I'm on my 3rd set).

yea when i pull the tranny this time im going to do everything right, new flywheel bolts, and only lexus bearings, my w58 is really in bad shape though, you can always feel it going into second, always have to wiggle around to get into reverse and makes some noises, say im going 30mph, i push the clutch in and i can still hear hear a clicking noise as i come to a stop like its the main bearings in the tranny, because stopped with the clutch pushed in my car sounds like new

go to toyota and get the bearing for the NA supra 5spd. it will be cheaper then lexus even though its the same part.

just two days ago i call up westmont lexus and get a quote on some alignment bolts for the suspension. mine were seized. lexus quoted me 14 bucks a piece. same day i stop by libertyville toyota and ask them for the same part but for a supra. they quote me 9 bucks. the guy was cool and apparently knew my old boss so he gave me my whole order at wholesale cost

so many lexus and toyota parts are same but lexus rapes you in the process on them. say no to lexus pricing!!!

They don't call them stealerships for nothing

I remember replacing ignition wires for my car last year. Went to lexus and quoted me $14 for one wire and $20 for another ( i needed only two replaced due to rodents). Went the the Toyota dealer literally next door and was quoted $9 for one and $15 for the other. Hmmm....
