I did this when I had to take off my throttle body to replace my spark plugs, I had a dirty throttle body too.

i did this and more when i had my 90k service done. cleaned out the throttle body, the intake manifold (lord that had so much carbon buildup), some of the lower intake runners. the car runs like a champ! to prevent some of that buildup in the future, i've already changed the pcv valve but i'm going to also add a oil catch can with a true internal baffle (not like greddy or others with just wall).
