Question Power Steering question please

If I remember correctly, the SC seems to historically have these issues, but correct me if I am wrong please.

As I turn the steering wheel at times now I get a "whine" from under the hood. It's not a belt sound but rather sounds like my P/S Pump.

Also with complete randomness the car will get much more difficult to steer (almost like old school manual steering) for a few seconds and then return to normal.

The fluid level is fine/full but not over full.

Is this a sign that I need a new pump or is there something else possible?

Thanks for any info I get on this one ahead of time!!!

I have the Exact same problems but mine leaks so i have to refill with Lucas oil stop leak fluid every week or two. I'm pretty sure its the pump... i just have more exciting things to spend money on for the car so its towards the end of my to-do list lol.

its not the pump theres a filter in the buttom of the reservoir remove the reservoir clean out with brake cleaner aka fill up shake up drain keep doing it youlle see the chunks of the rack falling out (seals). while your there check the lines at least ones CRAcked dryrot man they are like dollar a piece take them offf straighten them out and go to autozone and get them cut to fit. then put it all back together. fill with dexron. Take off cap after filled turn on car itll whine real bad because theres air in a hydraulic system thats it whined in the first place. Turn all the way to the right hold 30 seconds, all the way left hold 30 seconds, straight 30 seconds keep repeating until it quits whining (means you got all the air out) itll be like brand new cut off refill since its going to shootout the whole time your bleeding it (turning the wheel with cap off). done. screw a pump for 500
