Something seriously wrong? Motor pulls like crap at high rpm
1992 SC400 1uzfe, when I got it at 170K, it doesn't pulls as strong from 3000rpm to 6000rpm, the motor just growls really loud. Recently replaced timing belt, water pump, cam bearings, plugs and wires, synthetic oil, it picks up some kicks but at high rpm it still feels the same, no hard pull or whatever. On my 94 camry v6 it pulls hard after 3000rpm with all the advancing timing and fuel and such. Why doesn't it do on the V8 or is something seriously wrong with the motor....or the tranny?....
Also when it's hot out the car bucks like crazy. It will accelerate from a stop and right when it shifts, the rpm drops significantly and stay there for some random amount of time until it picks up again.
I'm thinking the knock sensor doing its job too sensitively and pulls all my timing and fuel when I rev high.

I'm going to replace the knock sensor but I want know if there is a way to disable them right now like cutting and fitting in a fake load. I don't really care for the knock sensor function right now just making sure that it's not sending bogus knock detection.
Anyone ever disabled their knock sensors?

You should just be able to unplug it for testing purposes. Will probably toss a CEL but unless the ECU then overcompensates by pulling timing even more, you should be able to diagnose your problem.
I know on the Ford 2.3T (different world, I know) most people unplug their KS's because it noticeably affects performance, and there are no other issues involved with it. YMMV though.
