Default What goes bad in the SC300 ECU?

THis morning I had the typical toyota ECU failure. My car running fine, then the motor stalled. When I restarted the car, I had nothing but black smoke. Bad Idle and stumbling. Has anyone successfully repaired a Toyota ECU? Any tips would be appreciated.

capacitors start to leak, go to any good electronics technician can replace the caps for you.

Just take out the ecu and open up the lid and have a look.

my ecu went bad without the capacitors leaking. Can it still go bad without any physical evidence?

It could happen, but the only way to tell is to borrow a V8 ecu and swap them over.

If it still does the same thing. Spray electronic board cleaner into all of the electronic connectors (ecu etc) as you can and also in the car and engine bay.

If the problem still exists, then eliminate and change sensor 1 by 1. i know this is time consuming and expensive but in some cases it has to be done.

Yea, it was a bad ecu cuz when I changed it, my problems went away.

I opened up the original ecu, and there weren't any leaks in the capacitors.
