1jz blow off valve help needed
Hello Guys,
Thinking bout installing an aftermarker greddy type rs bov with my 1jz swap into my sc300. I am not sure exactly where would be the best location for this. Does anyone know and have any pics of there set up with bov attached?
Also I wanted to know if it makes sense in changing the stock bov that recirculates to an aftermarket non-recirculating?
Any feedback or pics will definitely help on this one as I am definitely still new to this swap.

Does the factory set up recirculate or not?
So if the care is in front the cold side of the intercooler is on the right or left?
Would the set up look like the set-up on the blue lex here:

The cold side is actually the other side. The side with the throttle body (the right side if you're standing in front of your engine). The best spot for it is as close to the throttle body as possible.

BOV placement varies; some people mount them on the hot side, some cold. Its really up to you, but the way I see it, as soon as the throttle butterfly shuts close, the pressure buildup with start from the TB and travel back to the turbo. Exhausting this pressure at the point of buildup will prevent that pressure wave from hitting the turbo and creating all kinds of f-up.

Have a look at this 250kw atw @ 10psi
This is my brothers 1jz with a turbosmart plumb back and vented BOV @ the turn of the adjuster

The BOV was put a the front of the throttlebody, it was a little (slow / delay) to vent the pressure, so it was moved to the current position

Thanks for the suggestions, I am still not sure of which way I am going to go with my set up yet. I dont know if I will just install the 1jz with the stock bov that recirculates or use the greddy bov. I was looking to run 12psi daily eventually once i break in the engine after a months or so. Would the stock BOV be able to handle this?

Hey here is what i picked up from reading the soarer forum:
There is some debate on the best place for it, either before or after the intercooler.
Basically the debat is this...
For Before... You dont waste time cooling air you then dump.
For after.... You have the air traveling in one direction for the greater length, and in one direction through the intercooler. If it goes before it when it opens the air that has just been sent towards the inlet plenium then has to come back through the ic again to vent.
I chose after the ic.
What do you guys think about this?

Just dump to atmosphere...no need to recirculate it unless you want it quiet.
I can agree with the theory that having the bov close to the turbine(hot side) would be best to minimize compressor stall, but I think mounting them close as you can to the throttle body has been the standard for years.
