No Overdrive, No codes, No redline
Hello all, I know this has been covered various times and I've checked out many of the suggestions in other threads minus going out and throwing money on parts as diagnosing the issues so far show everything is in working order for the most part.
1995 Lexus SC300, 133k miles, AUTO
No codes, however, get a random EGR code 71 no and then but makes no noteable difference in the performance and operation of the car.
No flashing O/D light.
Car's performance is perfect no stumbling or hesitations.
Manually shifting from 1, 2, D all work flawlessly (and they shift fine while in D). ECT and O/D button's work and toggle the lights on the dash just fine.
1st to 2nd gear change will happen roughly at 12mph, 2nd to 3rd gear change happens at around 25mph, then I'm in 3rd to past redline no rev limiter nothing and would have approx. 50mph @ 5k rpm. The engine will race past 7k on the tachometer. Don't know if the tach is off or not at that value but there has yet to be fuel cut or any other limiter to prevent overrevving. In addition, with ECT PWR on shifts are done at 7,200 rpm. No ECT and WOT shifts are made at 6.2k. Cold idle is about 1.9k, warm is around 900rpm.
Just did a transmission service with new filter and fluid. Sprayed and cleaned the internals pretty well, fluid removed was not burnt. Same conditions remain.
With a voltage/ohm meter... + to the TT terminal and the - to the E1
Ignition on, Engine off:
TPS = 1.1V closed, 8.1V WOT
BRAKE = 8.1V with WOT, brake released. ~0.2V with WOT, brake pressed.
Engine On:
1st Gear - 0.4V
2nd Gear - 2.4V
3rd Gear (D without O/D) - 4.1V
D with O/D on - 4.1V
Plugs on the transmission look without damage. Shifter moves as it should. Tension on the LPS cable has some slack, but have not adjusted it. Automatic shifting up and down are fine but no overdrive. I've not tested a spare ECU or swapped out solenoids yet.
Let me know what you guys know. Perhaps its something I'm overlooking as the past 8 cars I've owned were all Nissans and manual and have limited time behind messing with an AUTO.
Thanks everyone
