Default Auto flex plate installation...which side out?

2JZGTE...but I'm pretty sure this applies to GE as well

Anyone know which side of the flex plate goes toward the back (away from engine)? Their are indentions in the flex plate to accept the torque converter and it's about a 4mm difference depending on which way you put it in=seemingly small detail that is a BIG deal I'm sure.

Choices are
1. indentions go toward the rear
2. indentions go toward the engine

Thanks

Look at the ring gear. The beveled edge goes starter side.
