1996 Lexus SC300 VVTi frozen
I have a 1993 Lexus SC300. I have a problem with the VVti because it's like frozen.
Under the hood, when the car is on idle, I revved it real high and I was looking at the VVti cable and it didn't move at all.
Can someone tell me why it's not working? I don't feel it kick in while driving

VVTi doesn't work via cables, it's a special cam gear that activates it. And as mentioned 93s never came with VVTi unless the engine was swapped. Are you sure you aren't look at cruise control?

Lol... Yes the other cable is the cruise control. If you bought the car thinking it has vvti then you got scammed. Unless they did a vvti swap into obd2. But yes. No vvti until the later models. Way later from 93.

I'll take a Picture of it tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure it has a VVti because I had another black 1992 SC300 that had VVti and saw that same cable move when revved above 3k rpms.
Thanks for the replies

ok. You can tell if it has vvti by a couple of visual cues.
1) it says VVTi on the spark plug cover.
2) It has a black spark plug cover for the GE motor.
3) there is a bulge over the intake cam jutting out towards the front of the car.
Here I found a vvti motor picture.

bwaahahahahaa omg this made my day.
you must have the special edition cruise control vvti activated throttle linkage adapter edition 2jz-ge.
I think i know what your problem is, its your fuel map, its got a nasty hole, you should tune the nos timer and you will run 9s

Noob is a noob. Oh wells. I once thought that cars either had mafs or have mafs in conjunction with maps. Also I didnt know what a turbo was in 2005, and now I installed a gte with an auto to manual swap. Did my own wiring. I also changed the headgasket, removed and installed cams, water pump. Rebuilt the transmission (with professional help of course), troubleshooted no crank conditions, no start conditions, no fuel conditions, no a/c conditions.
Still it took about 3-4 years to get to that point. haha Also I'm still a noob on most everything else.

I haven't taken a picture yet but here is what I am talking about.
There is a cable here that my friend told me is the VVti, he once showed me on my other 1992 lexus sc300 and he revved it real high and I saw the butterfly open:
This engine is not what I have in the Engine bay.
